YAKIMA - Michael M. Ehlis, 79, of Selah died October 11, 2010 atYakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Michael was born in April 29, 1931 Mandan, N.D. to Andrew andBarbara Ehlis. At age 15 Mike and his family moved to the Yakima,WA. On Nov 20, 1954 he married Cora R. Hollingshead. In 1962 theymoved to Selah to raise their family.
Michael worked for Burlington Northern for almost 47 years. Heenjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, playing pool, cards,playing various musical instruments, collecting stuff, gardening,fixing stuff, winter vacations in Maui, watching all sports, andspending time with his family, and friends.
He is survived by his sons David (Patty) Ehlis of Selah, WA, DonEhlis of Louisville, KY, Dwayne (Irma) Ehlis of Selah, WA andRichard (Tina) Ehlis of Yakima, WA; daughters Carolyn Ehlis ofYakima, WA, Janine Ehlis of Maui, HI and Evelyn (George C) Ehlis ofPortland, OR. He is also survived by his sisters, Magdalene (John)Doll, Monica Anderst, Frances (Joe) Corsentino, Doris (Ken)Schonert, & Lillian (Lonnie) Joslin; sisters in law, Jackie Ehlis &Ernestine Ehlis; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren andnumerous nieces & nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his son, Darryl Ehlis. He wasalso preceded in death by his siblings, Mark Ehlis (WWII) (Bernice),Roy Ehlis, George (Katherine) Ehlis, John Ehlis & Leo Ehlis; brotherin law, John Anderst; sisters, Rose (Lambert) Loranz and Delores(George) DuPont.
A Memorial Mass will be at Noon, Friday, Oct 22, 2010 at Our Ladyof Lourdes Catholic Church in Selah. Inurnment at Calvary Cemeteryin Yakima will follow a luncheon at the church. A celebration oflife will also be held Friday Oct. 22 at 9:00 at the Pastime tavernin Selah. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home ofYakima.
