ENTERGY JOINS AS SPONSOR TO HELP MAKE SUCCESSFUL PRO-AM FISHING TOURNAMENT - US Fed News Service, Including US State News

Oswego County issued the following press release:

Captain Bob Pultorak and his T-K crew led 35 professional fishing teams to win Oswego County's 13th annual Lake Ontario Pro-Am Salmon and Trout Team Tournament Sunday, July 8. Screamer-A-Tom-Mik, led by Dave Antenori of Peckville, PA, won the amateur division in a field of 29 teams.

Sixty-four teams fished out of the ports of Oswego and Mexico on Saturday and Sunday, July 7 and 8. With major sponsorship from Entergy Nuclear, Brookfield Power, and several other local businesses and industries, the Oswego County tournament featured a total cash and merchandise payout of nearly $45,000.

The tournament was the third in a series of four Pro-Am Salmon and Trout tournaments this summer on Lake Ontario. The final tournament is Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15, in Wayne County. Similar competitions were held in Niagara and Orleans counties in June.

'In an effort to make the Oswego County tournament as successful as possible, we joined with the three other counties across the lake who also host pro-am events and worked together to create the Lake Ontario Salmon and Trout Tournament Series,' said David Turner, chairman of the Oswego County organizing committee and director of the County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. 'By moving to a series of four interconnected events we no longer compete against each other for sponsors and, in fact, this summer we were able to attract even larger sponsors as our target audience became lakewide.'

'Entergy is proud to sponsor the Oswego County Lake Ontario Pro-Am Salmon and Trout Team Fishing Tournament,' said Bonnie Bostian, Entergy spokesperson. 'Entergy prides itself on being an active environmental steward seeking innovative approaches to preserving the environment. This event supports programs which benefit the Lake Ontario fishery and showcases the beautiful natural resources of Oswego County.'

The point structure for the tournament series is based on combined weight and number of fish caught both days of fishing.

Pultorak, of New York Mills, and his crew accumulated 565.32 points over the two days. Over two days of fishing they landed 23 king salmon, the largest weighing about 18 pounds, and a brown trout, earning them a prize package of $10,017.

Antoneri and his crew led the 29 amateur teams with 331.63 points Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the team brought in five king salmon, the largest about 25 pounds, and one brown trout. Sunday's catch included six king salmon, the largest about 22 pounds. They took home a prize package of $5,023 in cash and merchandise.
